Why switch
Everything a phone call in India needs, from one team, priced in rupees.
₹1.80 per 1,000 characters.²
On pay as you go and on Business, paid from one rupee wallet. No plan to pick first.
Hindi, English, Gujarati, Tamil and Telugu. And the Hinglish in between, mid-sentence.
The listening, the thinking and the voice are ours: Fourier STT, Gemma 4 26B and Fourier TTS.
Ask for 8 kHz μ-law or A-law and send it straight down the line. Or take 48 kHz PCM for everything else.
When you want the whole call, the same key and wallet run our voice agents.

Hear itSame request, an Indian voice
OpenAI's speech API is simple to use, and its own guide says the voices are optimised for English. If your users speak Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil or Telugu, Fourier TTS takes the same request, so your code stays. Change the base URL and the model name, and you get voices that slip into English naturally, at ₹1.80 per 1,000 characters.
OpenAI’s speech endpoint is one small part of a very big API. One model covers many languages, and gpt-4o-mini-tts even takes a written note on tone. If most of what you generate is English, it’s a fine place to stay.
OpenAI’s guide also says its voices are “optimized for English”. Ours are built for India first. They read a Hindi sentence that drops in “order confirm” or “refund process” without changing voice, which is how most calls here sound. Fourier TTS is the voice our own phone agents speak with, and every line is made on our GPUs in India.

Side by side
For 10 lakh characters, tts-1 costs ₹1,424 and tts-1-hd costs ₹2,849. Fourier TTS costs ₹1,800. So tts-1 is the cheapest of the three, and the voice is the reason to pay a little more. Our price doesn’t change with the format, and a request that fails costs nothing.
OpenAI has also deprecated all three of its speech models. They leave the API on January 6, 2027.
Building a whole phone agent? Then compare by the minute instead. Ours cost ₹1 a minute on the volume plan, with the listening, the thinking and the voice included.

10 lakh is 1 million. gpt-4o-mini-tts is priced by tokens, so it has no per-character price to draw.

Which to pick
Sometimes it's them. We'll say so.
Moving
Your code stays. Three values change.
Step 1
Look around with no sign-up. When you are ready, create a key in Developers.
Step 2
The base URL, the model and the voice. The rest of your OpenAI code stays as it is.
Step 3
Four voices, each speaking Hindi, English, Gujarati, Tamil and Telugu.
Point the client at our URL, change the model, pick one of our voices, and always send response_format:
Leave out OpenAI-only fields such as instructions. For 16 or 8 kHz audio, pass sample_rate through extra_body. Every response carries X-Chars-Billed and X-Cost-Paise headers, so you can check our bill against your own logs while you run both. The OpenAI-compatible TTS guide goes step by step.
On a live call, one HTTP request per sentence opens a new connection every time. Our WebSocket endpoint keeps one open for the whole call, and lets you cut a reply short when the caller interrupts.
Take twenty lines your product really says: a name, a rupee amount, a date, an OTP, and English words inside your language. Write it in its own script. Render each on both, and play them to people who speak it every day, without saying which is which. Then play them again over a real phone call, because 8 kHz audio hides some flaws and shows others. The Hindi TTS comparison lists the other Hindi voices on the market, with their prices.

Yes. Set base_url to https://sandbox.voice.miraiminds.co/v1, use your sk_live_ key and set the model to mira-tts. Send response_format every time, because OpenAI's default, mp3, returns an error from us.
No. Our voices are ashu, neha, shruti and sameer. Ask for any other name and the error lists them. We never quietly swap in a different voice.
On OpenAI, ₹1,424 ($15) with tts-1 and ₹2,849 ($30) with tts-1-hd, so tts-1 costs less than we do. gpt-4o-mini-tts is billed by tokens, so it depends on the length of the audio. On Fourier TTS, ₹1,800.
OpenAI has deprecated tts-1, tts-1-hd and gpt-4o-mini-tts, and says they leave the API on January 6, 2027. Its suggested replacement is gpt-realtime-2.1-mini, a different, token-priced model.
